➡ Hygienic Pit Latrine Replacement
I’d like to introduce you to our latest innovation.
Our aim is to promote hygienic human waste management systems that are simple and low cost replacement of the pit latrine toilets commonly found in rural and urban homesteads.
We aim to stop the contamination of our rivers and under ground water and to stop feeding nutrients to invasive plants like water hyacinth in Lake Victoria.
➡We’ve developed a simple low cost replacement for the pit latrine
Because a lot of dignity and self esteem is associated with having a clean loo, we’ve nicknamed it The Merry Loo 😋
➡The Merry loo is a simple low cost replacement for the pit latrine. It mainly features a multi chamber digester to ensure total liquidation of solids and complete fermentation, which also means the system never fills up and never requires emptying.
➡The resultant liquid, now bio-fertiliser is fed through shallow French drains and plants are grown on top to take advantage of the 24/7 irrigation, as well as suck up the nutrients so they don’t end up polluting under ground water bodies and in the rivers and lakes.
➡This also means the system never fills up and never requires emptying.
➡The systems are prefabricated and installation is quick and easy.
➡The system is installed above ground, so rocky areas and high water tables are not an issue.
➡This design will suit households in urban, peri-urban and in rural areas.
➡We are setting up training for youth groups and CBO’s interested in taking this simple clean technology to the people.
The main Features include;
✅– Non-biodegradeable separator
✅– 7 stage fermenter
✅– Squat Asian style loo
✅– Shower basin
✅– EM priming culture
➡ Ideal for rural homes of 5 – 6 members
